Joshua Blake Steiger – Managing Principal – Los Angeles, California

My career has developed in both the fully considered institutional arena, as well as well as the nimble and dexterous world of entrepreneurs and small business. I’ve gained immense comfort operating in each modality. My path over the past two decades has been strategic if not calculated: Absorb as much knowledge, understanding, skill and proficiency about my profession and the landscape in which it operates by working for prominent, storied firms and through small business engagements; then pivot to capitalize on that experience. Cantilever Capital, LLC. is to become that expression.

A mentor once noted that the breadth of my experiences endowed me with an uncommon depth. Indeed, my career has been more than a couple years of experience repeated. Exposed to nearly every property type, I’ve worked nationally on projects ranging from million square foot office and retail complexes to industrial parks, to every kind of retail and class of multifamily properties to master planned subdivisions and special use properties. Beyond the real estate, I’ve operated a Chinese medicine manufacturing and retailer, helped launch technology companies, delved into the restaurant business, and created repeatable and scalable programs for entrepreneurial minded folk.

I’ve had the good fortune to benefit from growing firms where varying roles consistently increased my responsibilities and necessitated mastering new skills; and with the trust and guidance of strong managers, my efforts have built research departments and repositioned asset management practices. My teams have worked-out assets, fought to stave off foreclosure, bankruptcies, lawsuits, settled partnership disputes and modified loans to keep partnerships operating. We’ve spearheaded the turn-around of insolvent investment funds, stabilized operations, created value, and hunted for illusive untapped liquidity.

Perhaps most important among the variety of common threads that bind my career, is a rigorous adherence to institutional quality work and a tireless entrepreneurial spirit. My intention for Cantilever Capital, LLC., as an emerging boutique merchant bank and venture advisory, is to bring institutional thoughtfulness and structure to smaller and mid-size businesses. While we rely on our training to recognize and employ immutable business concepts and methods, we also abandon dogmatic thinking in favor new, innovative modalities that are more appropriate to a forward thinking projects success. This, is how the future will be shaped.

As a steadfast capital partner and advisor, I’m eager to aid those who choose the road less traveled.

David E. Amelung – Adaptive Solutions – Asheville, NC

Born into a family construction and real estate business that started with my grandfather, I quickly learned that in ever changing environments adaption and finding innovative solutions was the key to dealing with problems. This applies equally to both business and life. The personalities driving the situations around me imparted that the quickest way to advance was not to focus on why the problem occurred, but rather to identify it, react with a solution and move forward.

My professional life has developed in the cradle of entrepreneurship. From real estate development projects to creative financing constructs for value added opportunities to establishing manufacturing businesses and working with agricultural concerns, my work has given me great appreciation for the fortitude and grit displayed by people trying to better their corner of the world.

Fortunate to live and work in a place that I love, the mountains of Western North Carolina, I am always mindful of the words of a very good friend and mentor. He said there are really only four questions that one ever needs to ask themselves;

Do you love what you do?
Do you love those you do it with?
Do you love the place where you live and work in?

And most importantly,

When it’s all said and done, will you leave the place that you lived better than it was before?

Adaptive and creative solutions will be an essential part of the ever changing environment that we face in the real estate and finance industry. I look forward to assisting you through Cantilever Capital, LLC.

Gunther Sonnenfeld – Business Innovation – Los Angeles, Palm Beach

I’ve enjoyed a rich, diverse and polymathic career path.
I develop technologies that improve information systems (to include all forms of media, all types of data, as well as cryptocurrencies), and I design platforms that enable organizations to innovate with a strong social conscience.
Between 50+ ventures, three multinationals, and teams that have enjoyed several exits, I’ve been fortunate to touch domains stretching across ‘big data’, journalism, digital media, alternative currency, cognitive science, adaptive analytics, business intelligence, and sustainable development. I speak about the related challenges, and I relish the lessons I continue to learn from experimentation.
A holistic approach to life and business has taken me to six different continents, where I have provided thought leadership to myriad financial, government and development groups. I’ve received some awards in executive positions (Omnicom Group, 3D Pipeline) and have served as a partner in an accelerator (K5 Ventures // Coin, Strikingly). Yet, the real gifts have been enabling the transformations of people innovating beyond their vocational capacities.

All of this of course, applies to real estate development and strategy in the Now. How may I be of service to you?
